Paul Finebaum Names Two College Football Programs Who Are 'In A Class Of Their Own'

ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum has been extremely vocal about the rise and fall of a few powerhouse programs in the 2024 season.

Following the recent release of the updated AP Poll after the Week 2 slate, Finebaum joined the " Always College Football " show with Greg McElroy on ESPN.

The two spoke about the top teams in ACC and Big Ten, but much of their conversation surrounded the SEC.

The SEC has six of the top seven teams in the AP Top 25. While the entire conference has looked dominant throughout the season, Finebaum believes there are two teams "in a class of their own."

He thinks the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns are above the rest of the college football world.

"Obviously, Georgia and Texas seem like maybe they're in a class of their own," Finebaum said.

The Longhorns were bumped into the No. 2 spot in the rankings after their road victory over the defending champion Michigan Wolverines in Week 2.

Texas picked up a commanding 31-12 win over the Wolverines, snapping a 23-game home win streak. The Longhorns are now 2-0 after defeating Michigan in Week 2 and Colorado State 52-0 in Week 1.

Georgia, on the other hand, came into the season as the No. 1 team in the nation.

Since they entered the year, they've been dominant. The Bulldogs defeated the No. 14 Clemson Tigers 34-3 in Week 1 and Tennessee Tech 48-3 in Week 2.

Both teams seem to have the deepest rosters in college football, and most importantly, dominance in the trenches. They have fast, big, agile athletes who look to be a step ahead of the rest of the pack.

With talent like Quinn Ewers for the Longhorns and Malaki Starks for the Bulldogs, Paul Finebaum believes Texas and Georgia are "in a class of their own."
