    MS to Begin Feeling Effects of Hurricane Francine Wednesday Afternoon

    The effects of Hurricane Francine are anticipated to begin as early as Wednesday afternoon.

    According to an update from Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, Mississippi residents could begin to experience wind gusts up to 65 miles per hour on Wednesday afternoon. The state could also see anywhere from two to ten inches of rainfall, with locally higher amounts possible.

    MEMA also warns that parts of eastern and southern Mississippi could potentially also see spin-off tornadoes.

    Mississippi residents are advised to continue to monitor the weather from trusted news sources. Those in the eleveated and signficant risk areas are advised to follow protocal for evacuation if advised to do so. There is a potential for power loss, downed trees and powerlines, and damage to homes and other structures.
