Tamarack Resort, Idaho, has suspended operations in response to the nearby Lava and Boulder fires. As of September 11th, the Lava and Boulder fires were burning at 78,457 acres and 8,799 acres, respectively, per InciWeb.

In the Tamarack Resort area, Valley County upgraded the wildfire readiness status from “Ready” to “Set,” prompting Tamarack Resort to pause all operations and facilities, including meadow trails, mountain access, golf course, dining outlets, and vacation rentals.

The “Ready, Set, Go” program indicates varying levels of wildfire readiness. The “Set” status is a pre-evacuation order, during which involved residents must be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice and that there is significant danger in the area.

The Lava and Boulder fires are near Cascade, Idaho, about 24 miles away by car from Tamarack Resort. Operations will remain suspended until its area is downgraded to the “Ready” status or until it believes it can operate safely.

“We will continue to share updates on our website and social media as we receive them from officials,” the resort wrote. This week, wildfires have threatened several ski resorts across the West.

Webcam footage, as seen below, showing flames passing through Mountain High Ski Resort, California, surfaced online, but the resort announced on social media today, September 11th, that “all the main lifts and buildings survived with little to no damage."

In Nevada, the Davis Fire burns close to Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe and Sky Tavern, two ski areas in the Reno area. Neither Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe nor Sky Tavern has published public updates so far today on Facebook or Instagram.

Mt. Baldy Resort, California—which already had a close call with a fire earlier this summer—appears to be within reach of the nearly 50,000-acre Bridge Fire, per Cal Fire maps . Yesterday, the resort’s GM, Robby Ellingson, shared videos that showed towering plumes of smoke.
