ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals announced that starting pitcher Lance Lynn has been activated off the 15-day injured list and will as expected start Wednesday night against the Cincinnati Reds.

As a corresponding move, reliever Chris Roycroft has been optioned back to down to Triple-A.

Lynn's last start for the Cardinals took place on July 30 against the Texas Rangers, going five innings, allowing three hits, including a home run, striking out three and walking one.

However, Lynn was placed on the injured list a day later with inflammation to his right knee.

Before going on the injured list, Lynn was (somewhat) rebounding from a disastrous start in Washington in which he allowed 10 earned runs in less than three innings against the Nationals. In the three starts after that disastrous outing, Lynn would pitch 16 innings and only allow three earned runs combined, while striking out 11 and walking 6.
