Exploring the Supernatural: The Haunted May-Stringer House Ghost Tour in Brooksville

The May-Stringer House is one of the coolest places in Brooksville, Florida. It's this really old house that was built way back in 1855. The house has 14 rooms and looks like something out of a storybook, with its Victorian style and gingerbread trim. People say it's the most haunted house in the whole state

    A Tragic History

The house’s history is filled with tragedy. John May passed away only three years after building the home. His wife, Marena, later married Frank Saxon, a Confederate hero. Sadly, Marena died giving birth to their daughter, Jessie Mae. Jessie lived for only three years before she too passed away. Both Marena and Jessie were buried on the property, which has led to many ghost stories.

    Expansions and Modern Legacy

Dr. Sheldon Stringer later purchased the home and added ten more rooms. The house became his medical office and family home. Eventually, in 1980, it was sold to the Hernando Historical Museum Association, who restored it.

Today, the May-Stringer House is known as one of Florida’s most haunted houses, offering both historical and ghost tours for curious visitors.
