Wyatt Flores continues his meteoric rise as a country music star. Good luck finding a more genuine, transparent, authentic artist in the music industry right now. I know it might seem crazy to say that, but for my money, there's no one better at picking up a guitar and telling stories straight from their heart better than the 23-year-old Flores. And we're about to get more of those heartfelt tracks from the Oklahoma native as he puts out his debut album
Welcome to The Plains next month. The highly anticipated full length project is set to hit streaming platforms on October 18th, and as you'll be able to gather from the social media post below, the young artist is excited to share it with his fans: “It’s an album about home and a search for happiness. It’s an album about Stillwater, Oklahoma, and all the other little towns that have raised people like you and me. It’s an album about my family, and the people and places in my life who have defined who I am today. This album is happy on one side and heartbreak on the other, and whoever you are, I hope you find something you love in here.” https://www.instagram.com/p/C_QhD8BRWJT/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=63fdfcec-2502-473c-9e4a-8415ab3f1dd8 Circling October 18th on my calendar as we speak... Luckily for us, Flores has already given fans a taste of what's to come with his debut album. "Don't Wanna Say Goodnight" was the
project's first single to be released, and the hopeful-yet-cynical song provides another introspective notch in the belt that is Wyatt's impressive catalogue so far. Those that have listened to it are already attached to the song's driving melody and flowing, fast-paced lyrics. So does it help or hurt to know that Wyatt Flores doesn't even remember writing the song? In a clip that Flores and his team posted to his social media account, the 23-year-old explained the story behind "Don't Wanna Say Goodnight," and that story is basically that he got a little too inebriated, put pen to paper (or fingers to phone notes) and crafted a banger: "I honestly don't even remember writing the song, because the night before, we had also celebrated something and I'd sent it way too hard and I didn't even remember writing the song the next day.
The song may sound a little bit like it's drunken writing and there's a lot of drunk references in there. I still love how simple that the writing was on it... because when you're a young man and you're chasing a female, you're not thinking." Sounds like it was maybe a little bit of "method writing" by Wyatt Flores? However he wrote it - and regardless of if he remembers it at all - it turned out to be an incredible, upbeat country love song. Flores following in the footsteps of many country music greats before him I suppose: Get drunk and write a hit. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_tmz6ovNTM/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
