Jordan Love sprained his MCL in the last minute of Friday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. But while the Green Bay Packers are preparing to have Malik Willis under center in week 2 versus the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field, head coach Matt LaFleur hasn't ruled out the possibility of Love playing.

"I'd say (the door) it's pretty open," LaFleur said after practice on Wednesday. "He's doing a nice job, he's spending a lot of time in the training room. Our guys have done a great job with him."

In order for Jordan Love to play, he needs to be fully cleared and confident about his knee. Those are steps that the quarterback will have to make in the next few days, since he did not practice on Wednesday.

"He's gotta be cleared, we gotta feel like he can protect himself, and he's gotta be confident enough to go out there and do it," LaFleur added. "Until that happens, we're not even thinking about that."

When asked if Love had to practice before playing, Matt LaFleur had a short, but definitive answer.

    "I'd say no."

In the locker room, Malik Willis mentioned how close Jordan Love is to make sure he’s ready in case the doctors clear him to play.

“He’s getting his mental reps,” Willis said of Love. “He’s preparing to play”.

    Meanwhile

Jordan Love didn't practice on Wednesday, so Malik Willis had the opportunity to have reps with the ones for the first time in Green Bay. But he was not the only one. Sean Clifford, who's on the practice squad, also had starting reps.

Willis has had the normal flow of reps, but LaFleur doesn't want to overload the rest of the offense. However, the quarterback has put extra individual work to learn the offense and get ready.

"Certainly there are things you can do post-practice and pre-practice," LaFleur said. "But it's just hard to do that with the whole team, there's a cost for that. You still have to get everybody else the number of reps, and you don't want to overload them, you want these guys fresh."

    Injury report

Quarterback Jordan Love (knee) was the only player on the Packers active roster who did not practice on Wednesday, but there were four others on a limited basis: defensive tackle Kenny Clark (toe), cornerback Corey Ballentine (oblique), plus running backs Josh Jacobs (back) and MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring). Linebacker Edgerrin Cooper was listed on the injury report with a knee issue, but he was a full participant.
