Foster Pit Bull Does the Sweetest Whines After Being Refused a Piece of Pizza

Pizza seems to be something that all animals want, honestly. From dog to rats and everything in-between, if you offer an animal a slice of pizza, they're at least going to give it a lick, if not steal the entire slice.

On Tuesday, September 10th, a foster dog got her first taste of pizza... almost. Even though she's in the cone of shame and begging as hard as she possibly could, her mom wasn't backing down! At least it was fun to watch her try:

Claire Manship is kind for fostering pups, and a saint for fostering Miracle in particular. From everything we've seen so far, it seems like she definitely has her hands full!

Miracle is wearing a cone because she's just had a procedure done, and she's recovering well. Don't let her sad eyes get you: she gets plenty of treats and attention (as she should). However, her mom tries not to feed her people food as much as possible; it creates an expectation that might ultimately hurt her when finding a forever home.

Miracle is about 9 years old and up for adoption through NYC-based and TikTok sensational rescue Muddy Paws. She's the sweetest; her mom says she's very snuggly, playful, and easy to walk. She would do best with another dog who loves to play: they have their own dog, Ellie, who doesn't really want to play. In her boredom, she begs for pizza! If you don't mind singing and sharing your snack, she might be the one for you!

Why Not Feed Foster Dogs People Food?

Feeding dogs people food in general is a pretty controversial topic: a lot of people food, especially the stuff we view as "treats," is not great for dogs. It also creates the perfect opportunity for your dog to pick up begging, which is never good, regardless of if you're keeping them forever or not.

When you foster a dog, your mindset should be heavily focused on "how can I best prepare this dog for adoption?" While comfort and quality of life are important, you can't let the dog have complete free-rein. If you feed your dog people food or let them beg, a prospective forever family may find that off-putting, and it may keep them from being adopted.

Fostering can also be rough emotionally on the pup. A steady diet that doesn't rely heavily on treats or people food will be best to help keep their stomachs settled. If your pup feels well physically, they'll look their best for prospective families!
