We're only two weeks into the 2024 college football season, but several teams and particular players appear to be pulling away from the pack.

Georgia and Texas look to be in their own tier as the top teams in the nation, while players like Quinn Ewers and Cam Ward have caught the eye of many. College football analyst Joel Klatt included both Ewers and Ward in his early Heisman favorites ranking heading into Week 3.

Klatt listed Ewers at No. 1, followed by Ward at No. 2, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty at No. 3, USC quarterback Miller Moss at No. 4, and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck at No. 5.

The Heisman Trophy is widely viewed as a quarterback award which works in Ewers' favor. If he continues this level of play against SEC competition, it'd be hard not to see Ewers hosting college football's most prestigious trophy at the end of the regular season.

In two games, Ewers has thrown for 506 yards and six touchdowns. Texas' signal-caller dominated No. 10 Michigan last week in Ann Arbor, appearing to have improved his footwork drastically from last season and looked decisive and confident in the pocket.

Ewers will look to prove he can be consistent against UTSA at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Week 3.
