Good news permeated from Halas Hall Wednesday as Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said wide receiver Rome Odunze's knee injury is "not that serious" and deemed the rookie "day-to-day" with an MCL sprain.

Odunze suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's season opener against the Tennessee Titans while blocking for Velus Jones Jr. on a short pass from Caleb Williams. Jones and Titans linebacker Harold Landry landed on Odunze awkwardly. The Washington product limped off the field after the next play, a 20-yard run by D'Andre Swift.

All things considered, the Bears dodged a bullet. Odunze described feeling a "pop" in his knee but was relieved to get a Grade-1 sprain diagnosis. He missed Wednesday's practice and will be considered day-to-day moving forward.

The Rest of the Bears' Initial Week 2 Injury Report

Falling into the "not-so-good news" category, Wednesday's Bears injury report lists wideout Keenan Allen and defensive end Demarcus Walker alongside Rome Odunze in the dreadful DNP (Did Not Practice) category.

It seems the heel injury that kept Allen out of four games last season and the end of training camp this year could be an ongoing issue to keep an eye on.

Suddenly, Chicago's vaunted trio of receivers is down to DJ Moore. Hopefully he, along with tight ends Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett, can step up if Allen and Odunze can't go Sunday night against the Houston Texans.
