Matt Riddle Says Chance Of WWE Return ‘Extremely High’ For One Specific And Reasonable Reason

Former WWE star Matt Riddle believes a return to the company is an eventuality. And the reason why is because a member of the current roster made a shocking return last year.

Matt Riddle is a very unique personality in the professional wrestling industry. He is one of the few wrestlers in the world that has legitimate winning experience in the UFC. It makes him a performer who is a real-life bad a** instead of a fictional one. However, he has never presented himself with a mean fearsome personality.

Instead, his character is modeled after 1980s movie icon Jeff Spicoli. Which was famously played by acting legend Sean Penn. That carefree and high-on-life approach endeared him to the WWE universe. However, it also led to several issues for Riddle outside the ring. A social media post after an awkward clash with a cop at a New York airport was the last straw and he was released last year.

Some believe that Matt Riddle wore out his WWE welcome and may never be welcomed back. But, professional wrestling is a never-say-never business, and the “Orignal Bro” recently explained why he believes a return to World Wrestling Entertainment is an eventuality.

Matt Riddle suggests CM Punk has opened the door for his eventual return

“The chances of me going back, I think they’re extremely high,” Riddle told Sports Illustrated’s “The Takedown.” If CM Punk, who filed a lawsuit against WWE, and then raked them through the mud for a decade, then goes to the competition; if he can [return], everything can be forgiven. I know I wasn’t the easiest to work with at times but I think the door is always open.”

“I think the longer I’m away, the harder I work, and the more I do, the more likely I could come back. But I’ll also say this, if I never go back ever again, and they never talk to me again, I’ll be ok with that.”

The former WWE tag team champion has kept himself busy on the independent scene over the last year. Making appearances for AAA and Major League Wrestling.
