The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation Tennis Classic is back for the first time in two years. As part of the press run, Nowitzki appeared on the DLLS Mavs podcast to discuss the event as well as everything Mavs-related. However, the interview took a comedic turn when the Dallas Mavericks legend talked about veteran NBA insider Marc Stein's tennis game in light of the upcoming charity event.

“Marc [Stein] had some decent strokes. You can tell he played growing up. However, his conditioning wasn’t where it should have been," Nowitzki humorously revealed to the DLLS Mavs podcast. "The last time we played, it was a little warm outside. His whole head was red. People we were playing with were a little worried."

Stein is part of the DLLS Mavs crew. The podcast is produced in conjunction with the ALLCITY Network, which features local media members of numerous NFL, NBA, and MLB teams.

However, before being an ESPN inside reporter and a Substack favorite, he worked as a Mavs beat reporter for the Dallas Morning News. During that time, he developed a working relationship with Nowitzki, which included meeting the Mavericks forward's parents early on.

Unlike Stein's breath control on the tennis court, according to Nowitzki, their relationship stood the test of time.

The charity tennis game has a new location. Instead of being at SMU, it will be held in "Nowitzki's territory" at the Banner House at the T-Bar M.

The event is on Saturday at 2 p.m. Central Time. Stay tuned, because DallasBasketball.com will be bringing you live coverage from The Big German's tennis game.
