Northern California is bracing for gusty winds and cooler temperatures as a quick-moving weather system sweeps through the region. The National Weather Service in Sacramento reports that winds will gust over 25 mph, particularly along the I-5 corridor and in the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada and Coastal Range. Northern Shasta County may also see stray showers or thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Fire weather conditions remain elevated due to the dry winds and low humidity, with gusty north winds expected in the Sacramento Valley through Thursday. Another weather system is forecast to bring widespread chances of precipitation and Sierra thunderstorms next week.
