Northern California is experiencing a significant cool-down this week as an upper-level trough moves into the region. The National Weather Service reports that inland temperatures have dropped below average, with a cold front bringing light rain and breezy conditions. Del Norte County saw up to half an inch of rain earlier today, while Humboldt received between a few hundredths to a quarter inch of precipitation.

Showers will continue to move south and east through this afternoon, tapering off by evening. Gusty northwesterly winds are expected to persist into the night before easing on Thursday. While temperatures will warm slightly on Thursday and Friday, the cool trend is forecast to continue into the weekend, with more rain possible as another system approaches. Models suggest this active weather pattern could last well into next week, bringing more chances for rain and cooler weather.
