The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Wind Advisory for eastern Kern County, in effect until 11 a.m. on Thursday, as strong winds sweep through the region. Residents are also being cautioned about an elevated risk of grass fires due to low daytime humidity and poor overnight recovery in areas such as the West Side Hills.

A cooling trend will continue through Thursday, but temperatures are expected to rise again over the weekend, with a 55-85% chance of highs reaching the 90s on Friday and a 15-40% chance of temperatures hitting 95 degrees on Saturday.

Next week, a second trough is forecasted to bring more significant cooling, with a 40-65% probability of at least 0.05 inches of rain in the San Joaquin Valley on Monday. Snow levels could drop to around 9,000 feet, with a 55% chance of Tioga Pass receiving at least two inches of snow. Thunderstorms may also develop in the Sierra Nevada on Monday with a 10-20% chance. Cooler temperatures are expected to persist into the middle of next week.
