A Liverpool trio gave Arne Slot exactly what he craves while on international duty ahead of a return to action this weekend.

More than a dozen current first-team players were away with their countries over the last 10 days , jetting off all around the globe to compete in the UEFA Nations League, Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and even 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The majority also gained a healthy amount of first-team action, with each player having two chances to impress while representing their countries in the first international break of the season. But three players, in particular, impressed in a very specific way.

Trent Alexander-Arnold , Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch all created a high number of chances in Tuesday's matches for England , Hungary and the Netherlands, respectively. Alexander-Arnold even grabbed himself an assist, having set up Harry Kane on his 100th England appearance to open the scoring in a 2-0 victory over Finland. In fact, the Liverpool right-back registered a total of five chances in the Wembley Stadium affair.

However, Szoboszlai went one better, creating six chances during Hungary's 0-0 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina, yet his side just couldn't find the breakthrough and ultimately cost the midfielder an assist or two.

Elsewhere, Gravenberch's early season form for Liverpool saw him finally earn his place in Ronald Koeman's starting lineup for the Netherlands, featuring from the off in both the games against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Germany.

The 22-year-old grabbed an assist as early as the second-minute against the latter, counting as one of his four chances created in Tuesday's 2-2 draw in Amsterdam.

And the signs are certainly promising, with all three players not only performing for their countries but preparing themselves for a return to action with Liverpool in perfect fashion. Seeing Alexander-Arnold, Szoboszlai and Gravenberch creating a combined total of 15 chances between will undoubtedly please Slot.

It will also please Liverpool's front three, too, with Mohamed Salah , Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz knowing that those behind them are more than capable of providing them with the right pass or opportunity to score.

Slot is likely to stick with the same side that beat Manchester United when Liverpool take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and it includes all three of Alexander-Arnold, Szoboszlai and Gravenberch.

Each player has started the season in impressive form and appears to have had no trouble in replicating that while on international duty of late. The challenge now is to achieve the same standards back in the Premier League .
