( NewsNation ) — NewsNation’s Rich McHugh is in Springfield, Ohio, where he says the immigration crisis is affecting the entire town as crime, accidents and unemployment have surged since thousands of Haitians have moved in. McHugh tells “On Balance” that, though the claims of Haitians grabbing people’s pets for food are unsubstantiated, longtime residents are upset, and they fear what will happen.

This is the oldest xenophobic trick in the book. Migrants have been accused of eating pets for generations. Italians, Puerto Ricans, Irish, Vietnamese, on and on. It’s so ridiculous, worry about the kid down the street with a gun that shoots animals for fun, that’s a bigger threat. Who here isn’t a migrant?! Unless you’re Native American STFU
