Challenge night 12 of MasterChef: Generations was a classic restaurant takeover when the remaining six contestants were divided into two teams for a takeover of Ramsay’s Rooftop popup restaurant.

The Blue Team consisted of Michael , Murt and Rebecka with Murt as the captain and the Red Team was Becca , Kamay and Adam with Becca as the captain.

The meal that the teams had to cook began with Pan-Roasted Scallops and Sauteed Lobster Tails as the two appetizers and for the entrees, it was either Pan-Roasted Duck or a NY Strip.

The second hour was the semi-finals. The Top 5 had two challenges with one chef leaving after each challenge. Challenge one involved the chefs using their imagination as Gordon Ramsay gave contestants a partial restaurant review that didn’t say what the dish was, and the cooks had to create a dish that could be described as what the review said.

The second challenge was cooking a dish at the same time as Gordon, who made a Pan-Seared Salmon with Truffle Gnocchi, Asparagus, Fennel & Pernod Beurre Blanc & Crispy Leeks and Seaweed.

The winning team was the Red Team: Murt, Rebecka and Michael.

“The Red Team wins and we’re on to the semifinals,” Murt said. “It doesn’t feel good to get stripped as captain, but Mike stepped up, I stepped up, we finished as a team, we won as a team, so I can’t be happier.”

The contestant going home was Adam.

“It’s been a blessing from God to be in this kitchen and have this experience,” Adam said. “I have realized that there’s so much more out there to learn, so I’m really excited to start that journey. I am definitely sad, but I have learned so much in the MasterChef kitchen and being coached by these judges. I am really happy they had me. I came in as the youngest in the MasterChef kitchen and I was able to surprise some people with my approach to food.”

The dishes that did not live up to the MasterChef standards in the first challenge were Murt and Becca. Murt was sent home.

“Coming into this competition I have learned a lot about myself," he said. "I have an inner confidence I didn’t have and I had a really good time. This is not the last you’ll see of me. I’m too pretty of a face to ignore. Who knows what the future holds?”

In the second challenge, it was Rebecka who was sent home.

"Who would have thought that a 63-year-old grandma would be standing in MasterChef in the Top 4?" she said. "Thank you so much for everything. I am leaving here so proud, so happy, so thankful. I think I proved to the other generations that Baby Boomers have not stopped living. This experience has fulfilled me in a way I have been yearning for. I feel I’ve just touched the surface of what it means to be an excellent cook.”
