Scott apparently had no memory of commiting the murder when she turned herself into police. She told authorities "I think I may have killed someone last night," according to the indictment.

Scott was found with Skocdopole's credit cards in her possession when she was arrested, which prompted investigators to call her home in Broken Arrow. When she did not answer the phone police decided to check the home.

Police found Skocdopole's home empty of all her possessions, but they found pools and spaters of his blood all around the house according to a statement from the US Attorneys's office of the Northern District of Oklahoma.

Investigators later learned that Scoot had used two different kinds of saws to dismember him after killing him. This included cutting off the victims head according to the statement.

The dismembered remains of Skocdopole were found in a in a nearby creek that May.

Scott had been renting a room from Skocdopole and told friends and associates that had suddenly left for Dallas to explain the disappearance.
