I’ve had spider bites, thankfully not a recluse, but the reaction is horrific, same with mosquitoes, flies and sand fleas (awful). With two inhalers and two allergy med’s it’s tolerable, but I still get raised welts, that itch and ooze and sometimes leave nasty scars. Sent me to the ER a few times. This story isn’t surprising to me or I’m sure, to others like me.

I worked in an ER in Beaufort, SC. We had a young woman who was bitten by brown recluse spider on her stomach inside her house. She got necrotizing faciitis and had to have an operation to remove the dead tissue. unfortunately, she didn't know where the spider was, and when the family checked, it was under her couch! Yes, a spider like that can cause the problem.
