Boise State Athletic Director Teases Massive Announcement Amid Realignment Rumors

The late-night news dump came when nobody expected it. Out of nowhere, a report came that all of Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado State and Fresno State were headed to join the Pac-12 in 2026.

It is the latest chapter in the never-ending world of conference realignment in college sports.

The four Moutain West Conference schools will join Oregon State and Washington State, the lone survivor of the Pac-12 after everybody else left in 2024.

Shortly after the news, Boise State Athletic Director Jeramiah Dickey took to X with a perfect tease.

"Love you Bronco Nation…Sleep well #BleedBlue #WhatsNext."

The move is not official just yet, but all signs point to this expansion taking place.

The four programs are "applying for membership," as Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports reported late Wednesday night. Brett McMurphy also reported that an official announcement should come Thursday.

"Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State & San Diego State leaving Mountain West to join Pac-12 in 2026, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ, McMurphy wrote on X. "Official announcement is expected Thursday morning, sources said."

Since Boise State joined the Mountain West, they have done nothing but dominate with a 165-46 record against the MWC teams.

The Broncos also have 13 top-25 finishes since 2002, so they have been a successful team on the football field.

In Week 2, Boise State nearly pulled off a massive upset on the road against the Oregon Ducks before Dan Lanning's team snuck away with a last-second field goal to get the 37-34 victory.

Dickey has only been the AD at Boise State since 2021, after he came over from Baylor, but bringing them to the Pac-12 Conference is a massive step in the right direction.
