The first international break of the season is finally over and Premier League football returns this weekend, with Liverpool hosting Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Reds go into the game looking to maintain their 100 per cent record after beginning the campaign with wins over Ipswich, Brentford and Manchester United.

Liverpool will be without Harvey Elliott after the youngster fractured his foot during a training session with England's Under-21s , but that should not impact Arne Slot's starting line-up for the Forest game too much given he is yet to start a game under the Dutchman.

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been doing plenty of talking this week and will resume his bench role against Forest, with Alisson manning the sticks.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is finally being given the opportunity at international level that many feel he has deserved for some time, and he should make up the back four with Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson.

It will be interesting to see how Konate responds after he produced a sloppy display for France in their Nations League defeat by Italy, a performance that saw him dropped for Les Bleus' next game.

Alexis Mac Allister came off the bench as Argentina lost to Colombia in World Cup qualifying to allay any injury fears around the former Brighton man, and one suspects he will line up in a midfield three along with Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool's forwards have started the season in electric form, with Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz scoring three goals each and Diogo Jota grabbing one. Salah and Diaz took their goal-scoring form into the international break as the former netted in Egypt's 4-0 win over Botswana, while the latter scored for Colombia in a 1-1 draw with Peru.

Plenty of Reds fans are eager to see Federico Chiesa make his bow but his debut is likely to come off the bench.

Predicted Liverpool line-up vs Forest: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Diaz, Salah, Jota
