Former Los Angeles Clippers guard Jamal Crawford will leave TNT soon, as the network's partnership with the NBA is about to end.

According to Brendon Kleem of Awful Announcing, Crawford turned down Warner Bros. Discovery's contract offer for a final run. He will hit free agency as he receives various interest from other media companies. The Ex-Clippers star reportedly "will consider roles from color commentary to studio analysis to podcasting."

    Jamal's broadcasting career

Upon ending his 20-year professional career, mainly highlighted by his run with the Clippers, Crawford ultimately landed in the broadcasting column. In 2021, he partnered with former teammate Quentin Richardson to deliver game broadcasts for NBA League Pass. A year later, TNT hired him as a replacement for the departing Dwyane Wade.

As he joined Turner, Jamal appeared as a studio and game coverage analyst over the next two seasons. He saw a big break for himself in the past playoffs, being partnered with both play-by-play caller Kevin Harlan and fellow analyst Reggie Miller in the network's top broadcast trio until being replaced by Stan Van Gundy upon the commencement of the Western Conference Finals.

A no-brainer decision for his career

The exit of the three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner came under the heels of TNT's failure to extend its ties with the NBA in the brand-new television rights package. As it is, Turner will sue the league for not considering their offer to match Amazon and NBC's proposed deals to broadcast games for the national audience. As such, the 2024-25 season would mark the final year of the network in covering the league's national television games after collaborating with the Association over three decades.

With his experience, expertise, and knowledge about the game, Crawford will undoubtedly find a new opportunity as one of the most highly sought media guys in the market.
