Tyrese Gibson was arrested after a hearing about his ongoing child support battle with ex-wife Samantha Lee.
The Fast and Furious actor has since been released and also spoken about the arrest. He posted on his Instagram Story Tuesday, September 10 about his "traumatic" arrest specifically pointing the find on Judge Kevin Farmer for his behavior towards him. He posted a clip of himself on The Breakfast Club talking about his love for Jesus Christ and crediting the religious figure for keeping him going.
Over the clip, he wrote: "Getting arrested wasn’t fun. As a matter of fact, it was very traumatic… One would ask why does this judge Kevin M Farmer HATE me so much? What happened between Tyrese Gibson and Samantha Lee?
The former couple tied the knot in 2017 and welcomed their daughter Soraya a year later. When they got married the former couple signed a premarital agreement that was meant to settle the manner of the couple’s assets, debts and spousal support in the case of divorce. Tyrese believed the agreement was going to protex him from a portion of the financial commitment he is currently facing, specifically attorney fees and spousal support.
Tyrese and Samantha announced that they were getting a divorce in December 2020. Samantha spoke out about how she would have done her divorce differently if she was given another chance.
She told Essence : "It’s very important to seek wise counsel. You have to really decide and make a very calculated decision based on your belief systems. I think we do take divorce very casually. I would never tell a woman to walk through that in the same frame as I was when I did it."
How has the custody battle been going?
Tyrese and Samantha have struggled to see eye-to-eye amid their custody battle.
Tyrese was arrested in Atlanta on Monday, September 9 after appearing in court alongside Samantha . Tyrese allegedly avoided paying his $10,000-per-month court ordered child support for their five-year-old Soraya. The judge, Kevin Farmer, ordered him to pay that amount in April 2023 but failed to do so. Instead of paying the full $10,690, he would pay Samantha $2,200 a month.
Because he failed to follow orders , the judge ordered for him to be cuffed during the court case and he had to pay $73,000 to Samantha including $7,500 for her attorney fees to avoid jail time.
The two will unlikely ever be on good terms as they continue to dispute over the custody arrangement for Soraya. On Angela Yee's Lip Service, he said if he could ever be on good terms with Samantha for the sake of their child. He responded that it would "never" happen.
He said: "There’s nobody in the world who’s caught me more off guard and hurt me more than that woman. So no, I don’t trust you. I will never ever be able to unsee and unfeel."
