At the intersection of fashion and business is a man with a memorable curly coif. Aaron Walton is the CEO of Walton Isaacson , a full-service advertising agency that bridges the culture to the brands we know and love. This year, Walton made a notable appearance in Rynshu’s
    NYFW debut.

HelloBeautiful and TV One went behind the seams of Rynshu’s runyway show, where we spoke to Walton and brand designer Rynshu. “I’ve been doing this now since 2012, that was my first show with Rynshu,” said Walton. The business veteran recalled his first experience n the Rynshu runway as “nerve-wracking” because he didn’t want to fall. Fast-forward a few years and Walton has a new outlook on what it means to be on the runway. “The more and more I’ve done it, the more I realized it’s really about storytelling. There’s a lot of consistency in between what I do as a CEO of an advertising agency and my responsibility to tell a brand story and my role here to tell the story that Rynshu is trying to portray.”

For designer Rynshu, their fashion philosophy is about expressing their “inner self.” Rhynshu designs are inspired by traditional Japanese’ furoshiki cloths that are used to wrap and/or to transport goods.

Walton and Rynshu met over a decade years ago and together they have championed diversity through their passion for fashion. “One of the things I really bring to the fashion show and particularly to Rynshu is his passion for making sure he shows a diverse use of models. I love the fact that I’m older than most of the models so there is diversity both in terms of ethnicity, gender, and age.”

Walton has built many relationships in the industry, including a longtime friendship with Urban One founder Cathy Hughes . Strategic partnerships as such have allowed Walton to organically connect their clientele to their target audience. “That’s one of the things I love about TV One and Urban One – they’re incredible partners. They understand how this consumer thinks. They provide content that speaks to the mind and the hearts,” Walton explained.

Rynshu’s NYFW appeareance drew the likes of iconic supermodel Beverly Johnson , actor Billy Porter , fashion personality J. Alexander and more.

“What I love about Rynshu’s designs are they at once are classic and whimsical at the same time,” said Billy Porter, who was seated front row.

“It’s so dynamic and it’s so unusual. you haven’t seen that kind of design before in men and women looking alike but looking distinct,” added Beverly Johnson.
