County’s tax rate increases

Residents of Shelby County will see a 12.69 percent increase in the county portion of their tax bill under the 2024-2025 county budget and tax rate adopted at the Shelby County Commissioners’ court meeting held on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The new rate will be .6832, which is broken down into a .0668 rate for the road and bridge special fund and .6164 for the county’s operating fund. The new rate will generate an increase of 3.49 percent more revenue for the county over last year’s budget.

The current rate is .5965, with .0585 for road and bridge and .5380 for the operating fund.
