The San Francisco 49ers are off to a good start in the 2024 NFL season, as they defeated Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets at home last September 9, Monday, 32-19. But for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, his performance in that game was not much to write home about.

Aiyuk did not even feel excited about watching the film of the Jets game.

"I didn’t watch the film until this morning," Aiyuk said, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN . "I was scared to watch it. But not as bad as I thought."

Aiyuk noted that his dropped catch in the end zone against the Jets was a reason why he was not interested in seeing the game tape.

Following the game, Aiyuk said that Brock Purdy’s pass was perfect and that he simply did not secure the ball enough to complete the touchdown.

Aiyuk finished the Jets clash with just 28 receiving yards on two catches and five targets – a mediocre stat line that doesn’t reflect the four-year, $120 million contract extension he signed with the 49ers before the 2024 season.

In any case, Aiyuk has a chance to redeem himself in Week 2, with the Niners looking to go 2-0 in a showdown against the Minnesota Vikings in the Twin Cities on Sunday, September 15, 1:00 p.m. ET.
