This buttery cinnamon sugar-coated butternut squash is one of the best vegetables of the Autumn season. Easy to make in minutes with simple instructions and a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving or any weeknight dinner menu. We also like to add a bit of heat by using a dash of cayenne pepper that gives this a new level of yumminess.

These are simple pantry ingredients for a sweet side dish that goes famously with any meat your serving and the combination of cinnamon and butter shouts fall flavors.

Shopping List:

• 1 2-pound butternut squash sliced see under directions for tips
• 2 tablespoons melted butter
• 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
• salt, and pepper to taste
• optional cayenne pepper (if you like spicy foods)
• 1/4 cup maple syrup, honey or brown sugar
• Mix all together in a bowl and set aside

Directions:

1. clean, seed, and (cut in half) butternut squash ( the easiest way is to microwave it for 3 minutes to soften then slice it)
2. line a baking sheet with parchment paper
3. place the squash on the pan and spray with cooking oil
4. fill each hollow part with the butter and seasoning
5. roast for 55 minutes or cook till they pierce easily with a fork
