After losing the first two games of the series against the Chicago Cubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers are back to their winning ways after defeating the North Siders at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, 10-8.

Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers brought some serious power into the Cubs game, flexing their muscles early by hitting four home runs in the first inning alone.

Ohtani kicked things off for the Dodgers with a 405-foot home run as leadoff hitter. As it turned out, the two-time American League Most Valuable Player’s blast in the first frame set in motion a team feat that no other in MLB history before had accomplished.

According to OptaSTATS, the Dodgers became the first team ever in the big leagues to pull off the following home run achievements in the same game: a leadoff home run, hitting three consecutive home runs, making four blasts in an inning and having a player hit a bomb from each side of the plate.

After Ohtani’s dinger, Tommy Edman, Will Smith and Max Muncy hit consecutive home runs. Edman’s first home run came from the right side. His second, which came in the eighth inning, was from the left side.

Ohtani also inched closer to another unprecedented MLB record, as his home run and stolen base in the finale of the Cubs series put him just three homers and two stolen base robberies away from becoming the first player in major league history to have at least 50 blasts and 50 bags swiped in a single season.
