A MOM has slammed Target over an alleged cart redesign she said could be a potential safety risk for children.

Ashley Darling raged at the chain and claimed it had not consulted any parents about child-friendly features as she sparked an online debate.

The TikToker (@the.darling.edit) drew mixed opinions on her strong take on what she called Target’s cart “redesign,” in a video that has drawn over 600,000 views.

Darling’s first complaint was about two cupholders placed next to each other.

She worried that children sitting in the seat would knock over these drinks.

“Guess who’s gonna be pulling up my straw and trying to drink my iced coffee?” she said.

“This one, yep,” Darling added as she pointed to her daughter.

“I think pretty much anyone can tell you we don’t want the cupholders up here,” she added.

Darling suggested this feature could be moved back on the cart, to avoid children’s hands.

The TikTokers second complaint claimed children faced a potential safety risk on the cart.

She blasted a grey phone holder that was in front of the children’s basket.

She complained about the holes on the tray and said they were inappropriate to have so close to a child.

“They're the perfect size for toddlers to get their fingers stuck,” she said in the video.

She claimed this could lead to “some sort of lawsuit” for Target in the future if an accident happened.

“I know we arent the only ones who use these…but come on,” she wrote in the video’s caption.

Darling’s comment section blew up as viewers were split on her takes.

I think pretty much anyone can tell you we don’t want the cupholders up here."

Several people disagreed about her idea to move cupholders, especially people without children.

“As someone without kids I definitely want the cup holders where they are,” one person wrote.

“I’d be so annoyed if the cup holder was so far away,” another commenter said.

One person suggested a solution that Darling agreed with.

“Hear me out- movable cup holders that slide along the side. Problem solved,” they wrote.

Another shopper supported these new cart features.

“A place for my phone to rest for them to watch tv and a cup for snacks… I think a mom did think of this,” they said.

Another viewer called on Target to make another child-friendly change.

"I just want 2 seats per cart so I don't have to push around that mega cart...." they wrote.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Target for comment.

    PUSHED AROUND

Walmart has also faced criticism from its shoppers when it rolled out a new cart design.

The retailer brought out new carts that were taller and has a cup and phone holder.

Several shoppers complained about the impact this new design would have on shorter customers, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

“Dear Walmart, please explain to me how a person who’s 5 feet tall or under can push those new high carts you so stupidly acquired," one person said.

“My arms and shoulders actually ached pushing that freak of a cart through the store!"

All this isn't a problem if ya just watch your kid. Like yeah they could probably grab the drink but idk it's on the edge or back corner so couldn't someone else. At least if it's your kid you know where their hands have been.
