Cowboys vs. Saints: Hurricane Forces Emergency Schedule Changes

The New Orleans Saints are 1-0, joining the Tampa Bay Bucs atop the NFC South. But all is not necessarily well ... and not just because the Saints play at the Dallas Cowboys in NFL Week 2.

With Hurricane Francine touching down in Louisiana on Wednesday, the Saints are making emergency adjustments to their schedule. One example: They are having their coaches spend the night at the team facility out of an abundance of caution.

“We’ll probably find a corner of the room to lay down in at some point in time and get a little sleep," said head coach Dennis Allen.

The coaches can sleep well based on their on-field work to open the season as they pounded another NFC South foe, the Carolina Panthers, 47-10, in what was the biggest blowout of Week 1.

Also faring well in Week 1 of course were the Bucs, who manhandled the Washington Commanders, 37-20. This week, Tampa Bay plays a contender in the Detroit Lions ... and for their second game of the season, the Saints do the same in an early-afternoon Sunday matchup with the Cowboys on the road in Texas.

In addition to the coaching sleepover, the Saints also found themselves changing practice times on Wednesday so players can safely be home with their families.

“We do have a job to do. Even when circumstances aren’t perfect, we still have to focus,” said Saints quarterback Derek Carr.
