OAK PARK (WWJ) -- Authorities are investigating the cause of a devastating fire, early Thursday morning at a clothing story in Oakland County.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton said the fire broke out at around 3 a.m. at "The Wealthy Store," at a shopping center on 9 Mile Rd., just west of Pinecrest in Oak Park.

Firefighters responded and put the fire out, but not before it gutted the business.

"The fire completely destroyed the clothing store; the inside is nonexistent now," Langton reported from the scene.

Langton said the fire did do some damage to adjacent businesses. However, it appears at this time that the 'Nerd Out' store, a toy store next door, was spared.

Later in the morning, firefighters were on the roof of the building, still assessing the damage.

What caused the fire is still unknown, as the investigation is just getting underway.

There was no one inside the store when the fire broke out, and there were no injuries reported.
