Mark ( @financeunfolded ) shares daily finance tips with his 1.3 million TikTok followers.

He began a series of the best side hustles for teenagers and in episode 22 he shared how they can profit off a common problem for pool owners.

Mark noted that residential pools are constantly filled with bugs and leaves, requiring daily maintenance.

Homeowners are likely willing to pay to have someone else clean their pool, which is where the cleaning side gig comes in.

The TikToker suggested heading on Google Earth and looking for homes with pools in your neighborhood, offering to clean them daily.

Mark commented that it was helpful and more fun to have at least one friend to take on the side hustle with.

The only required supply for the gig is a pool skimmer net, which costs around $10.

The content creator shared that it takes just 30 minutes to jump in and skim the whole pool.

He estimated that teens could clean around 10 pools daily at $15 per job.

If they dedicate time to the side hustle seven days per week, teens can make $1,050 per week or $4,200 per month.

“That’s $1,000 per week just for you and your friends to swim,” said Mark.

“I wish I would’ve saved this side hustle when I was in high school and hustling with my friends all summer,” he shared in the caption.

    CASH FLOW

In part eight of his side hustle series, Mark shared how teenagers can make up to $2,100 a month by washing dogs .

The side hustle requires around $25 in supplies, including shampoo, a towel, a brush, and any other necessary tools.

After gathering supplies, the next step is to find a dog to wash.

Mark suggested offering your services on Facebook Groups and Craigslist.

He estimated it would take just 40 minutes to wash, rinse, and dry each dog.

    Side hustles and tax implications

The extra income made from side hustles may need to be reported to the IRS.

If you receive more than $600 in gross payouts from a selling platform like eBay, the site will issue you a Form 1099-K to use in your tax return.

Individuals should calculate their adjusted gross income, taxable earnings, and deductions for the year.

Once they have that, they can use the 1040-ES form to calculate estimated taxes.

The TikToker also suggested teens charge around $75 per dog, as that’s what mobile grooming services cost.

With this price in mind, Mark calculated that teens can make up to $525 per week by washing seven dogs.

That comes out to $2,100 per month.

Teens can rake in the cash with other easy side hustle ideas.

One high schooler made $10,000 a month with his easy washing side hustle – all you have to do is make up prices as you go.
