‘Shut Up, JD!’ View’s Whoopi Goldberg Loses It Listening to JD Vance Criticize ‘Disconnected’ Taylor Swift and Her Harris Endorsement

The View’s Whoopi Goldberg told Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance to “shut up” after growing frustrated listening to him dismiss Taylor Swift and her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Swift threw her support behind Harris following Tuesday’s ABC News debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump, and she’s since been encouraging fans to register to vote.

“Apparently, this has upset many snowflakes. The Republicans are not happy that Taylor Swift is endorsing Harris, like vice presidential candidate JD Vance,” Goldberg said on The View on Thursday before playing a clip of Vance on Fox News calling Swift “disconnected.”

Vance said he “admires” Swift’s music, but argued she doesn’t face the economic struggles Americans are facing as a “billionaire celebrity,” a comment critics have said could also be used to describe Vance’s running mate.

“We admire Taylor Swift’s music, but I don’t think most Americans – whether they like her music or fans of hers or not – are gonna be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans. When grocery prices go up 20%, it hurts most Americans. It doesn’t hurt Taylor Swift. When housing prices become unaffordable, it doesn’t affect Taylor Swift or any other billionaire,” Vance said.

“You don’t know what affects her! You don’t know about her money! How you talking about — shut up, JD!” a frustrated Goldberg said in reaction to Vance.

The View co-host edited herself down before cutting to a commercial break.

“I’m sorry, that was very rude. Stop talking, JD,” she said.

On the other side of the commercial break, Goldberg offered walked back the “shut up” comment.

“The reason I apologized is I hate when people tell me, pundits tell me to shut up, so it’s not a nice thing to say. So I do take it back, but the implication is, hussssssh,” Goldberg said.
