The upcoming prequel series Dexter: Original Sin has set its release date on Paramount+ with Showtime and revealed a new teaser trailer.

Spanning 10 episodes, the drama series will premiere on streaming and on-demand to Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers on December 13th before making its US on-air debut on Sunday, December 15th.

Narrated by original Dexter star Michael C. Hall , the brief teaser provides glimpses at Patrick Gibson as a young Dexter Morgan and Christian Slater as his adoptive father, homicide detective Harry Morgan, as well as guest star Sarah Michelle Gellar ’s Miami Metro Police Department CSI chief Tanya Martin.

“I’m a killer, but I wasn’t born this way,” Hall says. “I was made.” Watch the clip below.

Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin centers around Dexter’s transformation from a student to an avenging serial killer. “When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness,” reads the official logline. “With the guidance of his father, Harry, he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.”

Original Dexter showrunner/executive producer Clyde Phillips is back in the same role for Original Sin , with Michael Lehmann ( Heathers ) serving as director and executive producer. Other members of the cast include Molly Brown as Dexter’s sister Debra Morgan, James Martinez as Angel Batista, Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer, and Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt. Hall will voice the young Dexter’s inner monologue throughout the show.

Hall is also slated to star in a new series called Dexter: Resurrection , set to premiere in summer 2025.
