( NewsNation ) — The final suspect in the 2020 kidnapping and assault of two U.S. Army soldiers in Colombia was extradited to Miami Friday and faces four charges that could end in a life sentence, the U.S. Department of Justice announced .

Court documents allege Kenny Julieth Uribe Chiran, a 35-year-old woman from Bogotá, and two others “targeted, incapacitated, and kidnapped two U.S. soldiers in Bogotá in order to rob them of their valuables,” said a release from the DOJ Office of Public Affairs.

The victims, who were on temporary duty in Bogota, were watching a sporting event at a pub but lost consciousness until the next day. A medical examination confirmed benzodiazepines were in their system, according to the DOJ .

Chiran’s co-conspirators, Jeffersson Arango Castellanos and Pedro Jose Silva Ochoa, were already extradited in May 2023 and April 2024, respectively. The former was sentenced to almost 49 years in prison, while the latter awaits a November trial.

The FBI is investigating and recognizes Colombian law enforcement for its assistance. If convicted, the maximum penalty is life in prison.
