Over the past two weeks of Ohio State football, a lot of the talk and spotlight has been on freshman receiver Jeremiah Smith and his tremendous play. While it is deserving, another phenomenal Buckeye reached a huge milestone, and he is just getting started.

In the Buckeyes' blowout 56-0 win against Western Michigan, senior receiver Emeka Egbuka had five receptions for nearly 100 yards. While that stat line is not too crazy, those yards placed Egbuka in the 2,000 total career receiving yards category, making him 11th in Ohio State history.

To go along with the 2,006 receiving yards, Egbuka also has 133 total receptions and 14 career touchdowns. Egbuka is also 207 yards away from passing his fellow teammate, Garrett Wilson, for tenth on the all-time list.

The person placed first on the all-time list is Michael Jenkins with 2,746. In order for Egbuka to reach that number, he would have to obtain 74 yards each game over the next ten games. While it is not impossible, it would be no easy feat.

Coming out of Steilacoom, Washington, the five-star receiver helped lead his team to two state quarterfinal appearances and one state runner-up finish.

Ever since Egbuka came to Ohio State in 2021, he has been nothing short of spectacular. In just his sophomore season, Egbuka racked in 1,151 receiving yards, which made him sixth all-time in single season receiving yards in OSU history. And there is no doubt Egbuka will continue to be excellent this season and for the rest of his career.

Next up, Egbuka and the Buckeyes host the Marshall Bison on Saturday, September 21 after the bye week.
