Ex-Giants Teammate Gives 'Danny Dimes' New Nickname

The New York Giants' season got off to a rocky start, and quarterback Daniel Jones found himself at the center of criticism following a dismal performance in the team's 28-6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Jones completed 22 of 42 passes for just 186 yards, with two interceptions and no touchdowns, leading to frustration from fans and former players alike.

Among the most vocal was former Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who joined in the criticism by giving Jones an unflattering new nickname, “Dan Dan da Doodoo Man.”

"Send some toilet paper to da Giants facility for Dan Dan da Doodoo Man. He needs it," Jenkins tweeted , capturing the disappointment that has been growing within the fan base.

Jenkins' comment reflects the mounting frustration with Jones, now in his sixth season since being drafted in the first round by the Giants in 2019.

Despite the criticism, head coach Brian Daboll quickly dismissed any notion of a quarterback change. When asked if the Giants were considering bringing in additional competition for Jones, Daboll responded bluntly, "Nope."

He reaffirmed his commitment to Jones as the starting quarterback, emphasizing that there were no plans to bench him, especially after the team decided to retain him with a $160 million contract this past offseason.

The Giants' offensive struggles in Week 1 were not entirely unexpected, particularly after losing star running back Saquon Barkley in free agency. Without a dynamic ground game to balance the attack, the team managed only 240 total yards, failing to convert these into touchdowns. Their 14 first downs nearly matched the Vikings' 15, but red zone inefficiency ultimately cost them the game.

As the Giants head into Week 2 against the Washington Commanders, the pressure is on Jones to deliver. Historically, he has performed well against Washington, but another lackluster showing could reignite discussions about his future with the team. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET, with all eyes on whether Jones can turn things around and lead New York to its first win of the season.
