The largest Pridefest 2024 celebration returns to Richmond, Virginia

WRIC 8 News reported that the largest LGBTQ+ celebration will be in Richmond, Virginia this weekend with the return of VA Pridefest 2024.

This year’s celebration, set for Saturday, September 14 from noon to 8 p.m. will be at the Bon Secours Training Center, located at 2401 W Leigh Street.

About the festival

The festival will feature 146 vendors and a youth pride pavilion. Local and national acts will also be performed across two stages: headliners Tank and the Bangas, Robin S, and Crystal Waters.

James Millner, Virginia Pride director, told 8News:

“We went all out this year. We decided that one headliner wasn’t enough.”

Millner says sign language interpreters will be at the festival to translate music for those who are hard of hearing and deaf.

Millner added:

"The first Pride celebration was held in 1979. Since then, the event has grown exponentially. In fact, we used to have this event on Browns Island, but we’ve outgrown that space. Now, we have to come to this bigger space. So, it’s really wonderful to see how the entire city and the entire region have embraced this event.”
