Although fans believe Rhys Ifans is playing Knull in Venom: The Last Dance, it is currently unconfirmed.

The final trailer includes one frame with the lethal supervillain Knull in it. However, his face is kept hidden behind his disheveled locks. Hawk-eyed fans have since theorized that the silhouette looks a lot like Rhys Ifans. Additionally, Reddit threads are flooded with speculations that Rhys Ifans will appear as the iconic Marvel supervillain.

Although, Ifans is eventually seen properly in the trailer, but its not as Knull. He appears to play a long-haired character, with the closed captions revealing his name to be Martin. He is seen alongside Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), in the back of a van. Martin tells Eddie, “There comes a time in every man’s life where you have to make a sacrifice.” Thus, who exactly Rhys Ifans’ character is and how he adds to the story remains a mystery.

If the theory comes true, it won’t be the first time that Ifans has played a Marvel villain. Fans will remember him as Oscorp scientist Dr. Curt Connors, aka Lizard, in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). Whether or not Rhys Ifans’ presence in the Venom 3 trailer warrants a return of Lizard, is a mystery as well.

Written and directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom: The Last Dance is set to hit the theatres on October 25, 2024. It is the third movie in the Venom film series starring Tom Hardy and continues the story of Eddie Brock and his symbiote Venom. The upcoming movie will see the duo on a run as they are chased by a deadly entity named Knull.
