NFL Analyst has the Lions landing All-Pro edge rusher in trade, here's how the Lions could get him super cheap

If you've been paying attention the NFL this season, then you know about the drama between the New York Jets and Haason Reddick. The Eagles traded him there this offseason for a third-round pick  with the idea being that the Jets would sign the multi time Pro Bowler to an extension.

That hasn't happened and now it seems that the Jets have no intention of making that happen. Reddick has decided to sit out until the Jets either pay him that extension of trade him. It seems like the latter could be the way things go.

One of the teams that he would best fit and could afford to extend him is the Lions. The 33rd Team's Dan Pizzuta thinks the Lions may be one of the best landing spots as well . Here's what he had to say:

"Putting Reddick with Hutchinson would open up more 1-on-1 pass-rushing opportunities for both, giving the Lions a legitimate threat on every down. It would also help develop other edge rushers on the roster. The depth behind Hutchinson is still questionable.

The Lions have $42 million in cap space after all of their big extensions lowered the cap hits for their best players. That could allow Detroit to front-load a Reddick extension, limiting the future exposure for a 30-year-old pass rusher as the other contracts on the books get more expensive."

It's not a bad idea at all. Like Pizzuta said, the Lions have the money to be able to make a deal happen now and with the front loading of a contract, they don't have to worry about how that will effect next years cap when they're going to be extending Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams.

Reddick reportedly wants a deal that similar to Danielle Hunters. A two year $49 million deal with most of that guaranteed. It's not the worst deal for a guy that was a Pro Bowler last year and for a team that wants to win the Super Bowl right now. These are the kind of moves you make and the kind of moves Brad Holmes has hinted at the Lions making in the future .

Here's the good part, the Jets screwed this all up so badly that they're unlikely to get anything near what they traded away to get Reddick according to an NFC executive.

"According to multiple league execs. "Not sure they have a choice," an NFC executive said. "They wouldn't get similar value back [a third-rounder], but it would be hard [for the Jets] to pay him at this point, and he clearly doesn't want to be there. Both sides badly mismanaged the situation." And the dispute has reinforced a harsh reality in trading for star players in contract years. "Teams will be nervous to make a trade for such a player if they don't want to pay him," a separate NFC exec said. "That was my first thought when Atlanta traded for [ Matthew Judon ], but it looks like he's comfortable playing it out, so I guess it's different. But if you make that move, you have to be prepared to do a deal in most cases."

The Lions would be financially prepared to make that deal and with the situation the Jets are in, it really puts the ball in the Lions corner to get him for less since they're taking on everything. So here's a trade proposal the Lions could get Reddick for:

    Lions get: Hassan Reddick
Jets get: 2025 fifth-round pick and James Houston

James Houston was a healthy scratch for the Lions in Week 1 and it looks like he'll be that again in Week 2 and maybe beyond. In New York he might have a better chance to work in as a pass rush specialist. The Jets get a fifth becasue again, the Lions are taking the risks here and the Jets really have no choice at this point. Lions should make this move if these are the terms.
