General Hospital: Maurice Benard Retirement Rumors and the Future of Sonny, Carly, and Jason

General Hospital teases more Maurice retirement rumors--Laura, who portrays Carly, was "quoted" as saying he'd be leaving in October!

Rumors are swirling around General Hospital once again, and this time, it’s about a possible retirement that could shake up the whole show.

Maurice, who has played the iconic Sonny for decades, is at the center of speculation—and fans are buzzing about what’s next for Sonny.

Could he be leaving Port Charles for good, and what does this mean for the future of “CarSon” (Carly and Sonny) or “Jarly” (Jason and Carly)?

Is Sonny Leaving for Good?

The mystery poster said in an interview that 'Jarly' was taking place in November, but she couldn't remember if Sonny (Maurice) was present!

In the most recent podcast, Steve, who portrays Jason, and Bradford, who plays Spinelli, interviewed Laura. The podcast conversation focused on Sonny, Carly, and Jason, and what would happen to Sonny.

However, neither Sonny's nor Maurice's future intentions were discussed in the broadcast. There were also a number of short films, and if the mystery poster heard this in an interview with Laura, it was not one of them.

In an earlier brief, Steve questioned whether Sonny and Carly were getting married, and she said no--but they did discuss Jason and Carly being each other's "ride or die".

Maurice has neither confirmed nor denied his retirement or whether Sonny is being written off the show; he recently tweeted that he may not be making personal appearances for a spell.

CarSon or Jarly

Regarding his event in Bellmore, New Jersey, he tweeted the following comment, urging followers to pay attention. "This may be my last one for a while-I'm not trying to get you to go, I'm just telling you the truth; let's have some fun."

However, this might either indicate that he will be extremely busy filming General Hospital as Sonny, or that he is working on other projects or has other obligations.

Given the existing plot, how would Maurice be written out if he retires? We already know Sam is going to be killed, and Sonny might be involved in some manner.

The show is shot out of sequence, with segments filmed either sooner or later than the airdate. Someone might seek revenge for John's death by going after Sonny and succeeding.

On the other hand, whatever the poster heard or thought he or she heard Laura say may have been interpreted differently, and Sonny stayed!
