New York Giants Make Troubling Malik Nabers Announcement

    By Owen Crisafulli,

Pretty much nothing went right for the New York Giants in their season-opening loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but if there was a bright spot, it was the play of talented rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Even with Daniel Jones' inconsistent play under center, Nabers managed to put up some solid numbers in his NFL debut, as he hauled in five passes for 66 yards on the day.

The hope is that Nabers can continue to develop into Jones' top target on offense, but that plan may have hit a speed bump on Thursday afternoon. That's because the talented wide receiver popped up on the Giants injury report with a knee injury, throwing his status for Week 2 up in the air.

Nabers was a limited participant in New York's latest practice, and while it's encouraging to see he at least took the field, there's now doubt about whether he will be able to play in the team's upcoming game against the Washington Commanders.

Further complicating matters for the Giants is the fact that veteran wideout Darius Slayton is dealing with a concussion that could keep him off the field in Week 2 as well.

Nabers' status certainly bears watching, and if he ends up being unable to play in Week 2, New York's offense could be in serious trouble.
