Now that Texas is in the SEC, it’s time for the Longhorns to see how they measure up with the league’s big boys regarding NFL talent.

The Crimson Tide lead the way. But turns out, the Horns are right there alongside the Dawgs and Tigers.

The SEC office calculated that 439 players from SEC schools were listed on NFL active rosters during the opening weekend of the 2024 season. Not only that, but 129 more were on reserved/injured lists and practice squads.

Alabama led the way with 62 players on the active rosters around the league with Georgia having 45 players. Take a bow, Nick Saban.

But Texas and LSU were tied for third place with 39 players on active NFL rosters. Current Texas coach Steve Sarkisian watched as 11 Longhorns were drafted last April. His staff’s development is a huge reason why Texas’ NFL pipeline is sure to keep growing as the years progress.

Xavier Worthy took the NFL by storm with two touchdowns in his debut with the Kansas City Chiefs. Jordan Whittington made the final roster with the Los Angeles Rams despite being a late-round draft pick. Ja’Tavion Sanders flew under the radar in training camp but wound up starting last Sunday for the Carolina Panthers.

Bijan Robinson finished his UT career under Sarkisian, and now he’s expected to have a huge sophomore season with the Atlanta Falcons. Keondre Coburn and T’Vondre Sweat are earning their keep with the Tennessee Titans.

DeMarvion Overshown lost his rookie year with the Dallas Cowboys to a torn ACL. But “Agent Zero” is back, flashing his trademark speed and wanting to change jerseys to No. 0 if only owner Jerry Jones would allow it. Turns out the mascot Rowdy wears No. 00.

Cameron Dicker just became one of the top-five highest paid kickers in NFL history with the Los Angeles Chargers. Longtime kicker Justin Tucker is still doing his thing with the Baltimore Ravens.

Longhorns are everywhere in the NFL, giving Sarkisian a tremendous recruiting commercial for players of the future.
