The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going through it when it comes to injuries. Multiple players, including All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr. have already missed a game, are going to miss the Week 2 matchup against the Detroit Lions, or are battling through ailments as the week progresses.

Starting right tackle Luke Goedeke was added to Wednesday's injury report because he's currently going through concussion protocol and that only added to the situation. He was actually downgraded from a limited participant on Wednesday to a non-participant on Thursday, which is not good news. On Thursday, rookie cornerback and the team's primary nickel, Tykee Smith, was added to the report with an illness, marking yet another key player dealing with some kind of injury.

However, there was more good news than bad on Thursday. Starting cornerback Zyon McCollum, starting defensive lineman Logan Hall, starting linebacker K.J. Britt, and defensive lineman Will Gholston were all upgraded to full participants.

Hopefully Smith can get over his illness as quickly as Britt did, who was a limited participant on Wednesday. We'll see how that looks on Friday and will monitor it going into the weekend, if need be.

Lions don't receive the greatest batch of news, either

Marcus Davenport remained a non-participant on Thursday, which isn't the best of news for the Lions, but is good news for the potentially Goedeke-less Bucs. Safety Ifeatu Melifonwu also maintained his DNP status.

Penei Sewell didn't practice, either, but as mentioned before, I think it's just a precaution since he played through his ankle injury against the Rams. However, if he ends up missing the game, that's huge for the Bucs. Isaiah Williams was added to Thursday's report with an abdomen issue and starting safety Kerby Joseph was upgraded from DNP to limited and that has him on track to play, even if it's not guaranteed.

At this point, I think it's safe to say, "Don't hold your breath" when it comes to the Bucs' injury landscape. We aren't going to find out any concrete details until Friday afternoon, at the earliest, with some details remaining unknown all the way up until inactives are released an hour-and-a-half before the game.
