Baltimore Ravens: 2 Offensive Players Set for Bounce Back Week

After lackluster debuts to the 2024 season, two stars in particular on offense for the Baltimore Ravens will need to show up against the Las Vegas Raiders at home for Week 2. The home team will get a much easier matchup as opposed to the season opener last Thursday night against the two-time Super Bowl defending champion Chiefs in Kansas City. For this week at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, high expectations for the Ravens offense will be there after a flat showing in Week 1 against a softer Raiders coverage unit.

Ravens’ Favored, Should Feature Derrick Henry

As one of the heavier, if not the heaviest, favorites this week at home, the Baltimore Ravens are 9.5-point favorites against the Las Vegas Raiders. Last week, the Ravens were in a trailing game script most of the game and were in more passing sets, catching up with the high-octane Chiefs offense.

However this week, Baltimore and offensive coordinator Todd Monken should be able to continue what he schemed the first two drives in Week 1. Derrick Henry, while his carries will be managed this year for the playoffs, still should get more than the 13 carries he got last week. He finished with 46 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

The Ravens should be favored in most games and against weaker defenses like the Raiders that were torched by Chargers’ J.K. Dobbins, Henry should be a focal point to get going in Week 2. The one advantage Las Vegas has is its defensive line which features Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins against a Baltimore offensive line that struggled against the pass and the run in Kansas City.

Mark Andrews In Line for Better Outing

With a poor finish of 2 catches for 14 yards last week, Mark Andrews should rebound this week when not bracket-covered. Historically according to Statmuse, he has done poorly against the Chiefs’ defense with the amount of attention he brings, which allowed Isaiah Likely to break free on a few plays. There are plenty of targets to go around from Lamar Jackson and Andrews should have enough touchdown equity even if targets only increase by a few this week.

While Likely will certainly still have a presence in their target share moving forward as their second tight end, Baltimore utilizes both as wide receivers. The third tight end Charlie Kolar even saw snaps last week as a blocker but he had a few preseason moments for the Ravens before. Andrews still can be a force in this offense as one of the elite tight ends in the NFL.

    Final Thoughts

Hopefully, more creative and designed plays will be implemented this week in Baltimore from the Ravens. That includes their offensive stars Derrick Henry and Mark Andrews, who should be able to rebound in the stat sheet. Week 1 was the floor for their output and better things are in line for both of them as the Ravens offensive line also starts to gel a bit more with Jackson commanding the offense.
