The future of Texas' football program looks bright.

On top of the impressive on-field product Texas has shown through the first two weeks of the 2024 season, the Longhorns also gained significant momentum on the recruiting trail recently.

Texas landed three five-star recruits throughout the month of August including safety Jonah Williams and wide receivers Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench. Now, Texas is focusing on adding the No. 1 athlete in the nation to its class.

Five-star athlete Michael Terry III has been one of Texas' primary targets for the 2025 class for quite some time. The San Antonio native is ranked the No. 1 athlete and No. 7 overall prospect in Texas, according to 247Sports.

In 2023, he earned District 13-5A MVP honors as a junior, rushing for 995 yards and 20 touchdowns while adding on 564 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns through the air. Terry is coveted by nearly every major program and the Longhorns have the opportunity to host him for another visit in Week 3.

Inside Texas' Justin Wells reported on Wednesday that Terry will visit Austin for the Longhorns matchup against UTSA on Sept. 14.

On3's recruiting prediction machine currently lists Texas as the heavy favorite in Terry's recruitment with a 96.2% chance of landing a commitment.

Steve Sarkisian's staff will attempt to seal the deal this weekend.
