First he got a huge contract extension and now he’s getting his name up in lights, so to speak. EverBank Stadium is honoring Trevor Lawrence with a name change. The franchise quarterback started a sponsorship relationship last month with EverBank. The naming rights to the stadium belong to EverBank so they can do as they wish. And they decided that for the home opener on Sunday September 15 the stadium where the Jacksonville Jaguars play will be called “TrEverBank Stadium.” It’s a play on the quarterback’s name Trevor. Clearly they enjoy their puns. But they are serious about bestowing this honor.

“The ‘TrEverBank’ campaign isn’t just about a new name; it’s about showcasing how Trevor’s excellence on the field aligns perfectly with EverBank’s dedication to delivering top-notch financial services, giving Jaguars fans and EverBank clients the advantage they need to score big on their financial goals,” EverBank said in a release posted to its website.

Lawrence is fully on board with the temporary name. “EverBank is more than just my bank; everything they do centers around high performance and achieving greatness,” Lawrence said in a statement. He even posted a videoon social media extolling the new name.

The one day name change is only the beginning of his collaboration with EverBank. He will appear as the bank’s spokesman through multiple platforms, including online content, newspaper ads, financial center signage, social media and TV commercials, particularly during football games. Fans can get involved with the campaign by using the hashtag #TrEverBank.

EverBank had more to say about their alliance with the quarterback:

“Trevor Lawrence represents everything that EverBank stands for – performance, excellence, and a deep commitment to the community,” said Megan Johnson, EverBank’s Chief Marketing Officer in a statement. “We believe this campaign will resonate strongly with our current and prospective clients and inspire them to achieve their financial goals.”

The Jaguars believe that Lawrence can make the Jaguars a perennial playoff contender. Hence the five-year contract extension they gave him. And EverBank thinks just as highly of him as well. They believe their partnership will be mutually beneficial. In any case, the Jaguars will welcome the Cleveland Browns to TrEverBank Stadium on Sunday. Both teams are 0-1 so they each will be looking for their first win of the season. But a victory for Lawrence will put an exclamation point on the awesome but temporary name change.
