Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen Discussing Major Change

The Buffalo Bills have reportedly had discussions with star quarterback Josh Allen about altering his style of play, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe on Thursday night, September 12.

The talks center around reducing Allen’s reliance on running the ball—a staple of his game since entering the league.

Allen has made a name for himself as one of the NFL’s premier dual-threat quarterbacks, capable of delivering game-changing plays with both his arm and his legs.

At 6'5" and nearly 240 pounds, Allen’s unique combination of size, speed and strength has made him a constant threat in both the passing and running game.

In 2023, Allen rushed for 524 yards and tied the NFL record with 15 rushing touchdowns alongside Jalen Hurts. Over his career, he has amassed 3,611 rushing yards, a testament to his effectiveness as a runner.

However, with the wear and tear that comes with a physical playing style, the Bills are reportedly looking to make adjustments.

“Bills have talked with Josh Allen about running less, but when the game is on the line, they know Josh will be Josh to win," Wolfe shared before the Bills’ Week 2 matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Allen has developed a reputation for fearlessly throwing his body on the line to extend plays, often barreling through defenders to secure extra yards. His ability to do so has earned him multiple Pro Bowl selections, but it also presents long-term health risks.

As the Bills look to keep Allen healthy for the duration of his career, finding a balance between his running ability and longevity will be crucial. While Allen may run less, it's clear he’ll still trust his instincts when the game is on the line.
