The Miami Dolphins welcomed the division-rival Buffalo Bills for a primetime Week 2 matchup at Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night.

The home team got off to a rough start, surrendering a 24-10 halftime lead to Josh Allen and the visiting Bills.

Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw two interceptions early in the first half. And when the Dolphins started their final drive before the halftime break, head coach Mike McDaniel elected to take a conservative approach.

Instead of aggressively going after a touchdown to shrink the Bills' lead, the Dolphins strung together a few dump-off passes and settled for a field goal before heading into the locker room.

Veteran broadcaster Al Michaels was puzzled by this decision, criticizing the Dolphins' play calling on their final first-half drive.

"It's almost as if they're waiting to get into the locker room and just regroup and try something different," Michaels said on Amazon Prime Video's Thursday Night Football broadcast.

Tagovailoa continued his struggles after the halftime break, throwing a brutal pick-6 in the third quarter.

The Dolphins have lost 11 of their last 12 matchups against the Bills.
